Challenge

As a major supplier of AV solutions to higher education, TekVox’s goal is to ensure that teaching rooms are working 999.99 percent of the time, meaning less than nine hours of downtime per year. The company is set to launch TekEnterprise II, a cloud-based multi-campus service in early 2025, and sought a cloud solution with a robust security and privacy framework, the ability to build and customize hierarchies, the ability to visualize KPIs in real time, and the ability to provide customers with a simple tool for them to see their KPIs across a period of time.

Approach

TekVox knew it needed a way to offer users a quick, simple path to see the data that’s important to them. For example, a help desk supervisor might need to see devices inside a few buildings, whereas a campus director would need to see a view of the entire campus, and a system-level administrator would need to see a broad view of the complete installation.

Solution

By basing TekEnterprise II on Xyte, the company will be able to measure and monitor a number of key metrics important to ensure the uptime of their devices. These include telemetries of device availability, uptime, stability, utilization and plant mix, which are various measures of room types with technology mix and asset aging. Through the platform, TekVox will be giving their end-users a quick and meaningful way to see the data, as well as the tools to manage their AV platform. In phase II, TekVox will facilitate pre-failure intervention, which will go further towards the company’s “Five Nines” goal, or 999.99% uptime.
